Situated at the foot of the Pirin Mountains, Bansko is a favorite tourist destination for guests from different nationalities. Offering a variety of recreation and entertainment opportunities, the city is attractive all seasons of the year.
Bansko combines uniquely and modernly. Cobblestone streets separate modern hotel complexes from typical Bansko houses with wooden verandahs and high walls.

From the 18th to the 19th century there is preserved a unique architecture of the type of Bansko Fortified House. They are built almost entirely of stone, with small lattice windows, high fenced walls, heavy gabled gates and interconnected in narrow and winding cobblestone streets. Behind the thick walls have been preserved the traditions of the inhabitants of Bansko.

Bansko is a true treasury of national values, possessing many remarkable monuments of culture with original architecture and high artistic and historical value. Some of them have national significance:

  • St. Trinity Church, built in 1835 with a unique wood-carved iconostasis;
  • The Assumption Church, built in 1774;
  • House-Museum of N.Y. Vaptsarov;
  • Museum House of Neofit Rilski;
  • Velyanova house, architectural and ethnographic museum.

WINTER CENTER

Bansko Winter Center offers its guests the best conditions for sport, relaxation and entertainment in Bulgaria. A total of 70 kilometers of professionally prepared and reliably secure runs are available for all categories of skiers and snowboarders – from beginners to masters. Most of them are equipped with artificial snow guns that guarantee a long ski season from December to May. 25 km of modern high-capacity lift facilities quickly and comfortably transport guests to all the slopes. The ski center offers 16 km. a ski track equipped with artificial snow and lighting machines that connects the slopes with the city.

NATURE

To the south of Bansko is located the National Park “Pirin”, included in the list of national parks and reserves of UN, as well as in the list of cultural and natural landmarks of UNESCO. The park has a great wealth of lakes, waterfalls, caves, centuries-old trees and historic sites. In the towns of Chalin Valog, Todorova ornitsa, Demianishka polyana, Shiligarnika, as well as Vihren, Demyanitsa, Banderitsa, Gotse Delchev, Bezbog, there are wonderful conditions for hiking.

EVENTS

The resort is a multiple host of a number of international competitions. Numerous launches for the Alpine skiing and snowboarding world championships for men and women rank Bansko among the world’s leading resorts.

Analysts now call Bansko the NEW FESTIVAL PEARL OF BULGARIA.

More than 30 festival formats are included in the cultural calendar of the city, some of which are of international importance, others with national coverage and a number of related to the preservation of local traditions and culture.
